Second Trip with The Kedd

Well we arrived safe and sound, I'm sitting in Anne Marie's cabin now, with ed on the other bunk reading, after what has been a long day. The train ride to heathrow went well, everything on time, and as usual I bought too much alcohol at duty free....this time, when going through customs the officer questioned me on how much liquor and tobacco I had, and although I said I had two bottles of whiskey and some wine, I managed to get him interested in the boat and the mission I was on, and after a while he was laughing and wishing us good luck and waving me on through. Ed, however was getting a right grilling from his customs guy who thought that he was coming in to work on the boat.....French Canadian that one....! We got to the boat and I think ed was a bit shocked....he wanted to stay in the car at first, but after some cleaning up and so on, it didn't look so bad. We went out and found a camping shop just before it closed and bought 2 nice sleeping bags and some mats for what I would have spent on one in the uk! I was up at half past 5 the next day(this morning), and ed not long after, and we cracked on with it. Ed sorted out the lights, so we can now get around without using head torches all the time, we ran the motor, getting used to all the pipes and systems involved. The main engine inlet seacock is pretty ropey, but I took it apart and got it working a lot better, although I will change it when the boat comes out of the water. The canvas deck has done its job pretty well. There are a few drips now, mainly around fittings, but nothing like the niagra that was falling down below before. The panelling in the saloon has dried up pretty well, and all in all she is starting to look a bit better. Towards the end of the day we went out in the car to the chandlery, got some bits and bobs, then went up to cambie and got some stuff from Home Depot, before grabbing a pizza to come back to the boat. All in all, a good day, and now I'm just about ready for bed. Just asked ked for his first opinion on the boat.....'****ed'........'needs work'........was his lucid reply.....!
